In 2011, Duluth passed the Parks Referendum, and the library received new funding. The public response to increased library hours has been positive and overwhelming. Use of the downtown library, West Duluth branch, and Mt. Royal branch has sky-rocketed. In 2012, more than 7,000 new library cards were issued; nearly 1,000,000 library items were checked out; and library customers used the Internet at staggering rates, for research, to apply for jobs, and to seek opportunity. The library is a crucial community hub and a place of equal access for all.

Our community’s need for a library is more important than ever. The Duluth Library Foundation seeks private funds to help advance the important work of the library, supplementing but not replacing public funding. The foundation also advocates for the library. We hope you will join us in support of this community treasure.
