Who can advocate for libraries?
Everyone!
We believe great communities deserve great libraries. At the Duluth Library Foundation, we champion a future where libraries are vital, vibrant, and accessible to all. Our Foundations for the Future campaign ensures that our public libraries are not only preserved but strengthened—for today and for generations to come.
You have the power to help make that future a reality. Whether you’re a passionate reader, a library volunteer, a donor, or a community member who cares, your voice matters.
Explore the ways you can take action and advocate for the Duluth Public Library below.
Contact City Council Members
The Duluth Public Library is primarily funded through the City of Duluth, with the bulk of its budget coming from property tax revenue. While donations to the Duluth Library Foundation are essential for supplementing the library’s budget—supporting free public programs, events, capital improvements, and critical technology—the vast majority of the library’s core operations and staffing are made possible through city funding.
That’s why advocating to the Mayor and City Council is so important. These elected leaders determine the library’s annual budget. Your voice can help ensure Duluth continues to have strong, accessible public library that serves everyone in our community.
Attend a City Council Meeting
