What We Do
The Duluth Library Foundation works to enhance the uplifting work of the Duluth Public Library. Gifts from Foundation donors have made it possible for the library to further improve early literacy offerings for the youngest children; to initiate new Saturday programs and in-library STEM activities for school age children; to launch new teen programs and then expand them; and to offer indoor and outdoor programs for adults.
In 2019, the library embarked upon its most ambitious Foundation-funded program yet: Every Child Ready Duluth, a library-led, community-wide effort to make a life-changing difference for children at risk for low literacy and their families.
Books are still at the heart of the library, the basic tool of reading and success. Foundation support makes it possible for the library to purchase additional books for people of all ages. This includes books designed to engage and encourage children who struggle with reading, as well as digital books.
Even library spaces have been touched by the magic of donor support. A new teen space improved the downtown library. The Blue Room at the Mount Royal branch library was furnished with the support of community partners. The downtown Youth Services area had a facelift that brings joyful design to an area that welcomes 9,000 visits each year!
The Duluth Library Foundation, in partnership with the library, determines where donor gifts can have the most impact. We welcome your support.
